SCI signs MoU with BPCL to explore strategic partnership in shipping sector

The Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to explore a strategic partnership in the shipping sector.

This collaboration aims to enhance India’s maritime and energy logistics infrastructure by developing a well-structured roadmap, operating model, and framework for the proposed entity. The partnership is expected to bolster India’s shipping capabilities, ensuring greater efficiency and self-reliance in energy transportation.

Aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, this initiative reinforces India’s commitment to reducing dependence on foreign shipping services and strengthening its maritime industry. The alliance will contribute to economic growth, job creation, and enhanced operational efficiencies in the energy logistics sector.

In the meantime, yesterday, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) also signed a MoU with the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) to enhance India’s maritime infrastructure. This strategic partnership supports the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, aimed at strengthening India’s global presence in shipping and energy transportation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Shri Manoj Heda, Executive Director, International Trade & Risk Management, BPCL, and Shri Atul Ubale, Director, Bulk Carrier & Tankers Division, SCI. The event was attended by Shri Vetsa Ramakrishna Gupta, Director – Finance, BPCL, and Shri Dinesh Kutty, DGM I/c Tanker Commercial, SCI.
