India’s leading tyre manufacturer MRF Limited has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to set up a new greenfield manufacturing facility for automotive tyres and allied products. The proposed facility will be located at the SIPCOT Industrial Park, marking another major industrial investment in the state.

The agreement was signed through the state’s investment promotion agency Guidance Tamil Nadu, which acts as the nodal body for facilitating large-scale industrial projects.

The proposed project is expected to involve an estimated investment of around ₹5,300 crore. According to the company, the investment is planned to be executed over a period of approximately 12 years. Once implemented, the facility is expected to create direct employment opportunities for about 1,000 people.

The company clarified that the MoU is non-binding in nature. The project will move forward subject to approvals and support from the Tamil Nadu government, including sanction of a customised incentive package, infrastructure assistance such as land allocation, and other statutory approvals under applicable laws.

The upcoming facility will focus on the manufacturing of automotive tyres and related products. The project aligns with the broader objective of expanding manufacturing capacity and strengthening the automotive supply chain ecosystem in the region.
