JSW Steel reported consolidated crude steel production of 7.48 million tonnes in Q3 FY26, registering a 6% year-on-year increase. Production during the quarter was impacted by a planned shutdown at one of its key facilities.
Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at the Vijayanagar plant has been under shutdown since the end of September 2025 for capacity upgradation. The company has indicated that the upgraded BF3 is expected to be commissioned by the end of Q4 FY26. Due to this shutdown, capacity utilisation at Indian operations was affected during Q3 FY26.
For the quarter, capacity utilisation at Indian operations, excluding BF3 capacity, was approximately 93%. When BF3 capacity was included, utilisation stood at 85%.
Indian operations recorded crude steel production of 7.28 million tonnes in Q3 FY26, compared with 7.66 million tonnes in Q2 FY26 and 6.82 million tonnes in Q3 FY25. On a year-on-year basis, Indian production increased 7%. The Q3 FY25 production figure included trial run production of 0.12 million tonnes.
JSW Steel’s US operations in Ohio reported production of 0.20 million tonnes in Q3 FY26, compared with 0.24 million tonnes in Q2 FY26 and 0.21 million tonnes in Q3 FY25.
On a consolidated basis, crude steel production declined 5% quarter-on-quarter from 7.90 million tonnes in Q2 FY26 to 7.48 million tonnes in Q3 FY26. However, production increased from 7.03 million tonnes in Q3 FY25, reflecting a 6% year-on-year growth.
For the nine-month period ended FY26, Indian operations produced 21.97 million tonnes, compared with 19.58 million tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year, marking a 12% year-on-year increase. The earlier period included trial run production.
JSW Steel USA – Ohio recorded production of 0.68 million tonnes during 9M FY26, up from 0.58 million tonnes in 9M FY25. As a result, consolidated crude steel production for 9M FY26 stood at 22.65 million tonnes, compared with 20.16 million tonnes in 9M FY25, representing a 12% year-on-year increase.
