JSW Energy receives CCI approval for KSK Mahanadi Power acquisition

JSW Energy Limited has received approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for the acquisition of KSK Mahanadi Power Company Limited. The green signal from the regulatory body was granted on March 4, 2025, marking a key milestone in JSW Energy’s expansion plans.

The acquisition had previously been approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in Hyderabad as part of a resolution plan submitted by JSW Energy. This move is expected to strengthen JSW Energy’s power generation portfolio and reinforce its presence in the Indian energy sector.

KSK Mahanadi Power, a significant player in the power industry, has been undergoing financial distress, leading to its resolution under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). With this acquisition, JSW Energy aims to leverage its expertise in the power sector to enhance operational efficiency and output at KSK Mahanadi’s facilities.
