JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, one of India’s leading tyre manufacturers, has announced the successful completion of the merger of its subsidiary, Cavendish Industries Ltd, with the parent company. The move marks a significant milestone in JK Tyre’s long-term strategy to strengthen operations, unlock synergies, and accelerate sustainable growth.

JK Tyre had acquired Cavendish in 2016 from Kesoram Industries Ltd at a time when the business was operating at just around 30 percent of its installed capacity. Cavendish’s manufacturing facilities were focused on truck and bus radial tyres, truck and bus bias tyres, as well as two- and three-wheeler tyres, but the assets were significantly underutilised prior to the acquisition.

Following the takeover, JK Tyre extended comprehensive managerial, financial, and technical support to Cavendish, enabling a swift and effective turnaround. The company undertook systematic improvements in manufacturing processes, quality control, and operational efficiency. As a result, capacity utilisation at Cavendish surged to nearly 95 percent, reflecting one of the most notable operational revivals in India’s tyre industry.

In addition to efficiency gains, JK Tyre also expanded capacity at Cavendish’s Laksar facility. This expansion allowed the subsidiary to contribute meaningfully to JK Tyre’s overall tyre operations, particularly in the commercial vehicle and two-wheeler segments. Over the years, Cavendish evolved from a stressed asset into a key growth engine within the group.

With the merger now complete, JK Tyre expects to unlock substantial value through improved operational synergies, better economies of scale, and a stronger, more diversified product portfolio. The integration is also set to enhance the company’s reach by leveraging a combined and wider distribution network across domestic and export markets.

The merger further reinforces JK Tyre’s long-term vision of sustainable growth driven by a balanced mix of organic expansion and strategic inorganic initiatives. The successful integration of Cavendish stands as JK Tyre’s third major turnaround, following the earlier transformations of Vikrant Tyres in 1997–98 and JK Tornel in Mexico in 2008, along with the commissioning of two greenfield plants over the years.
