
HFCL Limited, a leading technology and next-gen communications solutions provider, inaugurated its state-of-the-art defense equipment manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, on December 23, 2024. This milestone aligns with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, emphasizing self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
The ceremony featured notable dignitaries, including Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, former DRDO Chairman, who encouraged HFCL to focus on reducing imports and becoming a global defense exporter. Guests of Honour included Dr. (Smt.) Chandrika Kaushik and Lt. General Rajeev Sabherwal.
The facility specializes in cutting-edge defense technologies such as Thermal Weapon Sights, Electronic Fuzes, High Capacity Radio Relays (HCRR), and Surveillance Radars, with annual production capacities of up to 5,000 sights, 250,000 fuzes, and 1,000 units each of HCRRs and radars. Its advanced features include 10,000 Class and 1,00,000 Class clean rooms for high-quality production.
Key Innovations:
- Thermal Weapon Sights: High-resolution imaging, lightweight design, and extended battery life, compatible with rifles, LMGs, and rocket launchers.
- Electronic Fuzes: Programmable features for precision, offering percussion, proximity, and time functionalities.
- HCRR Systems: Secure 100Mbps tactical communication with adaptive power control and Frequency Hopping.
- Surveillance Radars: Compact radars using FMCW technology for detecting threats, ideal for border security and counter-drone operations.
The facility boosts India’s defense capabilities, supports exports, and creates local employment. HFCL’s focus on indigenous R&D and manufacturing ensures innovative, high-precision solutions for global defense needs.
