Gravita India Limited has announced a significant capacity expansion at its existing lead recycling facility in Mundra, Gujarat, reinforcing its position as a leading player in India’s recycling sector. The company has increased the lead recycling capacity of the Mundra unit by 80,300 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA), taking the total capacity of the plant to 1,45,100 MTPA.
The expansion has been completed with an investment of approximately ₹49 crore, funded entirely through internal accruals. The capital deployment was directed towards procurement and commissioning of the additional recycling plant infrastructure, strengthening the company’s processing capabilities at the strategically located Mundra facility.
With this addition, Gravita India’s total installed recycling capacity has reached 4,25,959 MTPA post expansion. The move aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to enhance recycling operations and address the rising domestic as well as international demand for sustainable lead products.
The Mundra plant enjoys a strategic advantage due to its proximity to the port, enabling efficient sourcing of raw materials and smoother access to global export markets. The enhanced capacity is expected to improve operational efficiencies and optimise logistics, while supporting growing demand from overseas customers.
Gravita India operates 13 eco-conscious, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities worldwide and has built a presence across more than 70 countries over three decades. The company functions across six business verticals, with recycling as its core strength, and continues to expand its footprint in line with circular economy principles.
