Gravita India Limited, a global leader in the recycling industry, has announced the commencement of commercial production of recycled aluminum alloys at its new facility in Ghana, West Africa. Operated by its step-down subsidiary, Recyclers Ghana Limited, the plant has an initial annual recycling capacity of 4,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) in Phase I, with plans to double capacity to 8,000 MTPA in subsequent phases.
The company has invested approximately ₹6.75 crore in the new recycling plant, funded through internal accruals. The facility will source domestic aluminum scrap and cater to the automotive and die-casting industries across Europe and Asia. This expansion is aligned with Gravita’s strategy to replicate its recycling operations across various geographies, strengthening its global footprint.
Gravita already operates aluminum recycling facilities in Senegal, Mozambique, Tanzania, Togo, and India, and the addition of the Ghana plant will further diversify its operations and enhance its aluminum business segment’s contribution to the company’s overall sales mix.
With 12 eco-conscious, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities worldwide, Gravita has a combined processing capacity of 308,659 MTPA and a presence in over 70 countries. The company, with over three decades of recycling expertise, continues to lead in sustainability and innovation across its five business verticals.
