GMR Airports Limited (GAL), formerly known as GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited, has been awarded the concession to operate, maintain, and manage the existing cargo terminal at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport), New Delhi.
This development follows a recent directive from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Government of India, dated May 15, 2025. The directive revoked the security clearance of Celebi group entities operating in India, citing national security concerns. As a result, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a subsidiary of GAL, terminated its existing concession agreement with Celebi, effective immediately.
To maintain operational continuity at the cargo terminal, DIAL has transferred the concession to GAL under the same terms and conditions as the previous agreement. GAL currently holds valid security clearance as a Regulated Agent authorized to conduct cargo operations at Indian airports.
The transaction is classified as a related party transaction but has been conducted on an arm’s length basis. There is no direct interest in the transaction from the promoter, promoter group, or group companies of GAL, except for their indirect shareholding in both DIAL and GAL.
This transition ensures uninterrupted cargo handling services at IGI Airport, adhering to the regulatory and security directives issued by the government.
