Dalmia Bharat begins commercial production at Lanka Plant, Assam

Dalmia Bharat Limited (DBL), a leading cement manufacturer in India, has commenced commercial production at its expanded 2.4 MTPA Cement Grinding Unit in Lanka, Assam. With this expansion, DBL’s total cement manufacturing capacity in North-East India reaches 8 MTPA, reinforcing its market leadership in the region. The company’s Pan-India capacity now stands at 49 MTPA.

This new grinding unit is part of DBL’s ₹3,642 crore investment plan, announced in May 2023, aimed at enhancing its production capacity and meeting the growing cement demand in North-East India. Additionally, an integrated 3.6 MnT Clinker Unit is in the advanced stages of commissioning and is expected to be operational by Q2 FY26.

Puneet Dalmia, Managing Director & CEO, expressed his enthusiasm: “With this expansion, we are now the largest cement manufacturer in North-East India. As infrastructure development accelerates in the region, our increased capacity will help meet the rising cement demand. We remain committed to supporting landmark projects in the North-East.”

With over a decade of presence in North-East India, Dalmia Bharat operates four cement plants—three in Assam and one in Meghalaya. The company has contributed to major infrastructure projects like the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge, Sela Tunnel, and Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge. DBL continues to focus on sustainability, skill development, and community welfare, ensuring responsible growth in the region.

In the meantime, on Thursday, Dalmia Bharat’s stock closed at ₹1,610.05, falling from its opening price of ₹1,640.05. The stock hit a high of ₹1,641.10 and a low of ₹1,601.15 during the session, nearing its 52-week low of ₹1,601.00. The company’s 52-week high stands at ₹2,058.90.
