Astra Microwave Products Limited has secured a major contract from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the supply of six Klystron-based S-band Polarimetric Doppler Weather Radars, along with associated systems, accessories and long-term maintenance support. The company announced the development in a regulatory filing dated December 11, 2025.

According to the disclosure, the project includes the radars as well as AWS units (Automatic Weather Stations) and Disdrometers, bundled with a three-year warranty followed by seven years of CAMC (Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract). The total contract value stands at Rs 171.38 crore, inclusive of all taxes and GST.

The order, awarded by a domestic government entity, will be executed within 18 months, as specified in Annexure-1 of the filing. The company clarified that neither the promoter group nor related entities have any interest in the awarding body, and the transaction does not fall under related-party arrangements.

Astra Microwave Products Ltd, known for its radar, electronic warfare and microwave sub-systems, said the new IMD contract strengthens its position in the country’s weather-monitoring and meteorological infrastructure segment.
