ABB India has expanded its all-compatible drive portfolio with the launch of the ACS380-E drive, a solution built to meet the rising demands of automation-focused machine building. As Indian manufacturing moves steadily toward digitalization and smart-factory operations, the ACS380-E aims to support this transition with stronger connectivity, easier integration and future-ready cyber-security features.

The new drive has been designed specifically for machinery used in sectors such as textiles, plastics, cable and wire, intralogistics and other industrial applications. Its engineering focuses on reducing commissioning time and simplifying installation, wiring and assembly. The inclusion of embedded dual Ethernet ports and multiple selectable communication protocols as standard removes the need for additional modules, cutting down both complexity and setup time.

The ACS380-E also brings USB-C-based commissioning and firmware access through Ethernet, allowing machines to stay updated with the latest cyber-security requirements while maintaining quick and efficient configuration. ABB has positioned the drive as a reliable solution for future industrial automation standards, keeping manufacturers prepared for evolving compliance needs.

The machinery drive supports all major rotary motor types and works across global voltage ranges from 100 to 600 volts. It is built to deliver strong motor control for packaging systems, conveyors, extrusion setups, multi-axis machines and other precision-driven industrial operations. Its compact build makes it suitable for confined cabinet installations, while its compatibility with major automation platforms, including ABB’s own AC500 PLC, ensures smooth system integration.

The ACS380-E works seamlessly with ABB’s Drive Composer software and the latest Drive Composer 3, offering easier monitoring, adaptive programming options and quick offline configuration. These capabilities help machine builders enhance performance while reducing engineering and maintenance time.

In India, the ACS380-E is being offered in ratings up to 22 kW, 400 V. ABB officially introduced the drive at ENGIMACH 2025 in Gandhinagar, where it is being showcased from December 3 to December 7, highlighting the company’s continued focus on supporting India’s fast-growing automation ecosystem.
