Coal India Limited has secured a significant contract from GRIDCO Limited, Odisha, for setting up a 320 MWh (80 MW for 4 hours) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) plant. The project, divided into two clusters, is valued at an estimated ₹400 crore.
The contract stipulates the establishment of Cluster-1 at Padampur and Bolangir with a tariff of ₹3.04 lakh per MW per month, while Cluster-2 will be located at Bhatli and Basta with a tariff of ₹3.05 lakh per MW per month. Coal India is required to submit the necessary documents as per the Letter of Award (LOA) within 20 days, followed by the signing of the Battery Energy Storage Plant Agreement (BESPA).
The project is expected to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the BESPA. This domestic contract does not involve any related party transactions, and there is no interest from the promoter or promoter group companies in GRIDCO Limited.
