Adani Land Defence Systems and Technologies Ltd has purchased a 51% stake in the Gwalior based arms manufacturing business PLR Systems. The remaining 49% is owned by Israeli Defense company IWI.
PLR Systems mainly produces weapons for domestic business as well as imports. PLR is poised to take up some big orders from the Indian armed forces (reported by the Economic Times in January).
A statement by PLR said that the company will produce, “indigenous equipment to the 1.2 million army personnel and an equal number of para-military forces and state police forces and shall help achieve self-reliance aligned to the Make in India and Atma-Nirbhar Bharat initiative.”
