Andhra Pradesh is poised to become the premier logistics hub on India’s East Coast, according to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Speaking at a recent event, CM Naidu outlined his government’s ambitious plans to transform the state into a critical node in the country’s logistics and transportation network, capitalizing on its strategic location and growing infrastructure.

Chief Minister Naidu emphasized that Andhra Pradesh’s extensive coastline, with its well-developed ports, will be the backbone of this transformation. The state, which boasts 972 kilometres of coastline, is already home to major ports like Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam, and Kakinada. These ports are undergoing further expansion and modernization to handle increased cargo volumes and support the state’s aspirations to become a logistics powerhouse.

Naidu highlighted that the state’s infrastructure projects, including the development of dedicated freight corridors, industrial parks, and logistics parks, are designed to enhance connectivity and efficiency. These initiatives are expected to attract significant investment, both domestic and international, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a preferred destination for logistics and supply chain operations on the East Coast.

The Chief Minister also pointed to the state’s proactive policy environment, which includes incentives for logistics and warehousing companies, as a key factor in driving this transformation. The government’s focus on ease of doing business, coupled with its commitment to developing world-class infrastructure, has already started to yield results, with several leading companies expressing interest in setting up operations in the state.

Andhra Pradesh’s strategic location provides it with a natural advantage in serving as a logistics hub for the eastern and central parts of India, as well as facilitating trade with Southeast Asia. CM Naidu stressed that the state’s ports are well-positioned to handle increased traffic, especially with the ongoing and planned infrastructure upgrades that will allow them to accommodate larger vessels and higher cargo volumes.

In addition to port development, the state is also investing in improving road and rail connectivity to ensure seamless movement of goods to and from the hinterlands. The upcoming freight corridors are expected to reduce transportation time and costs, making Andhra Pradesh an attractive logistics destination.

Naidu also emphasized how important technology is to the state’s logistics strategy. Andhra Pradesh is integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and IoT into its logistics operations to enhance efficiency, transparency, and security in the supply chain. The state’s commitment to innovation is evident in its plans to develop smart logistics hubs that will use cutting-edge technology to optimize operations.
