UAE simplifies travel ban removal process

Previously, individuals faced a cumbersome process involving the submission of clearance and supporting documents, which required up to one working day for processing.

The UAE’s Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has announced a significant change in the travel ban removal process, effective immediately. The update, part of the Zero Government Bureaucracy programme launched earlier this year, eliminates the need for individuals to apply for a travel ban to be lifted once their case is resolved. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of federal government services by reducing bureaucratic obstacles.

Previously, individuals faced a cumbersome process involving the submission of clearance and supporting documents, which required up to one working day for processing. However, according to the MoJ’s latest advisory, this process has been streamlined. The ministry revealed in a brief video that the number of required procedures has been reduced from nine to zero. Instead of waiting for a manual review and clearance, the MoJ will now automatically take action on travel ban removal orders. The processing time has been drastically cut from one working day to just a few minutes.

The MoJ stated that this reform aligns with the UAE’s broader goal to enhance governmental efficiency and service delivery. The initiative is designed to eliminate unnecessary delays and expedite the resolution of travel-related issues for residents and visitors alike.

Judicial authorities in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai have also adopted automation for the cancellation of travel bans once any pending fines are settled. This move reflects a broader commitment by the UAE to modernize administrative procedures and improve overall service quality.

The UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy programme represents a strategic effort to streamline government operations and deliver a more responsive and effective public service experience.
