Belarusian and Russian defence ministers discuss military-political issues at Army 2024 forum

At the Army 2024 Forum, Belarusian and Russian defence ministers discussed current military and political issues, while Belarusian officials worked on enhancing military-technical cooperation with Russian counterparts.

Belarusian Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin and Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov engaged in discussions on the current military-political landscape during the Army 2024 Forum. The forum, held from August 12 to 14 at the Patriot Exhibition Center, has drawn official delegations from 83 countries, including Belarus, Iran, India, and China.

According to the Belarusian Defence Ministry, Khrenin and Belousov addressed pressing military and political issues following the opening ceremony of the forum. The discussions were part of broader engagements at the forum, which also featured a meeting between Khrenin and Dmitry Shugaev, Director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation. They focused on advancing military-technical cooperation and refining the terms for the delivery of military goods.

Additionally, Dmitry Pantus, Chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus, met with Alexey Aleshin, CEO of the Russian National Aviation Service Company (NASK). The meeting aimed to develop a framework for further collaboration between Belarusian aircraft repair organizations and NASK, potentially benefiting third countries as well.

The forum also saw plans by the Almaz-Antey Air Defence Concern to finalize three contracts with the Belarusian Defence Ministry and local industrial enterprises. These contracts, initially signed in August 2023, are progressing according to schedule, with two already completed.

The Army 2024 Forum features 39 delegations led by heads of defence agencies and military chiefs. Participants will have the opportunity to view a range of weapons and military equipment, showcasing the latest advancements in the sector.
