Russian troops have intensified their military operations in the border area of Russia’s Kursk region, successfully targeting Ukrainian armored vehicles and personnel using a combination of Lancet drones, artillery strikes, and guided missiles launched from helicopters. The latest offensive, conducted on friday, is part of the ongoing conflict that has seen escalating tensions along the Russia-Ukraine border.
According to reports from the Russian Defence Ministry, the coordinated strikes were carried out with precision, resulting in the destruction of multiple Ukrainian tanks and armored vehicles. The use of Lancet loitering munitions, a type of drone known for its ability to hover and strike targets with high accuracy, played a key role in neutralizing Ukrainian forces in the region.
In addition to the drone attacks, Russian artillery units launched a barrage of shells, further weakening Ukrainian positions. Helicopter gunships, armed with guided missiles, also participated in the assault, targeting Ukrainian military assets and infrastructure.
“Russian forces have successfully thwarted Ukrainian attempts to advance in the border areas of Kursk,” a Russian military spokesperson stated. “The use of advanced weaponry, including Lancet drones and guided missiles, has proven effective in neutralizing enemy threats and protecting our territorial integrity.”
The Kursk region, which lies close to the Ukrainian border, has become a flashpoint in the ongoing conflict, with both sides engaging in frequent skirmishes. Russian military officials claim that these operations are defensive in nature, aimed at preventing Ukrainian incursions into Russian territory.
However, Ukrainian sources have yet to confirm the extent of the damage or the number of casualties resulting from the Russian strikes. The Ukrainian government has consistently accused Russia of aggressive actions and provocations, calling for international intervention to de-escalate the situation.
