The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has announced a significant policy change under the directive of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah. The new policy grants 10% reservation and age relaxation to ex-Agniveers, a move praised by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for enhancing the force with skilled personnel.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this decision is part of a broader strategy to harness the expertise and dedication of ex-Agniveers, who have undergone specialized training in combat and security operations. The reservation and age relaxation will apply to recruitment drives across various cadres within the CRPF, ensuring that experienced individuals can continue to contribute effectively to national security efforts.
The Agniveer is the recent scheme announced in June 2022 to recruit candidates in the Army, Navy and Air Force for a four-year contract and then retain 25% of them for a further 15 years.
The initiative is expected to not only strengthen the CRPF’s operational capabilities but also honour the commitment and service of ex-Agniveers who have previously served the nation in challenging environments.
Speaking on the decision, the Director General of CRPF highlighted, “This reservation and age relaxation for ex-Agniveers will provide us with a pool of highly trained and motivated individuals. Their expertise and experience will significantly contribute to our operational readiness and capability enhancement.”
As the policy comes into effect, the CRPF is expected to implement streamlined procedures for the recruitment and inclusion of ex-Agniveers into its ranks. The move is part of ongoing efforts by the government to modernize and strengthen India’s defence and security infrastructure.
The CRPF’s decision to provide reservation and age relaxation to ex-Agniveers marks a significant milestone in India’s security strategy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. It reflects a commitment to harnessing specialized skills and experience for the nation’s defence, ensuring readiness in the face of evolving security challenges.
