Defence sector stocks traded largely higher in early trade on March 6, with broad-based gains visible across key counters, while Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) remained the only stock in the red as of 9:19 am.

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders emerged as the top gainer in the pack, rising ₹61.10 or 2.60% to trade at ₹2,413.60 on the NSE. Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) also saw strong buying interest, advancing ₹53.70 or 2.23% to ₹2,462.80. Solar Industries gained ₹213.00 or 1.45% to trade at ₹14,884.00, while BEML moved up ₹20.40 or 1.25% to ₹1,649.90.

Among other defence names, Zen Technologies climbed ₹15.20 or 1.08% to ₹1,420.30, Paras Defence rose ₹6.30 or 0.88% to ₹723.45, and Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) added ₹4.10 or 0.89% to trade at ₹464.10. Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) was up ₹9.70 or 0.76% at ₹1,290.30, while Data Patterns gained ₹22.30 or 0.66% to ₹3,381.50.

Apollo Micro Systems traded higher by ₹1.14 or 0.53% at ₹215.74, Avantel rose ₹0.71 or 0.50% to ₹143.37, and Astra Microwave Products gained ₹4.60 or 0.45% to ₹1,035.00.

In contrast, HAL was the only stock in the segment trading lower at the time, falling ₹13.80 or 0.35% to ₹3,878.00.

The overall trend indicated broad-based buying interest in defence counters in early trade, with shipbuilding and explosives-linked names leading the gains.
