Actor Ranveer Singh is about to reunite with director Rohit Shetty in November for the remake of Gulzar‘s ‘Angoor‘.
As per the director, this film is a remake of William Shakespeare’s ‘Comedy of Errors’. Shetty had dreamt of remaking this film long back. He had also bought the rights for remaking it years ago. However, his initial choice for the lead actor was Shahrukh Khan, but now the film will star Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
The director has also aspired to reinvent multiple classics like Chalti Ka Naam Gadi, Ram Lakhan, Satte pe Satta, etc, but none of the projects have been materialised yet.
Gulzar’s Angoor was a 1982 Indian comedy that portrayed the story of two pairs of identical twins who get separated in a tragic event. However, fate intertwines their stories later leading to chaos and misconceptions. It starred Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma in dual roles.
