Sarveshwar Foods Limited has announced the signing of a landmark tri-party agreement for the procurement and distribution of Mushkbudji Rice, the aromatic and heritage rice variety from Jammu & Kashmir. The announcement was made on the sidelines of BIRC 2025, highlighting a collaborative effort to bring this regional delicacy to consumers across India.
Under this new initiative, three key entities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) — Sagam Mushkbudji Farmer Producer Company (FPC), representing the local growers; Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF), the apex body of rice exporters; and Sarveshwar Foods Ltd, a leading name in the Indian food industry known for its quality products sourced from Jammu & Kashmir.
The MoU reflects a shared commitment to explore commercial arrangements for the procurement and promotion of Mushkbudji rice, with an indicative procurement quantity of 500 Metric Tons (MT), valued at approximately Rs 7.5 crore. This rice will be distributed pan-India, marking a major step toward connecting regional farmers to larger markets.
The agreement aims to:
-
Create a structured framework for cooperative discussions and procurement.
-
Define quality standards and specifications for future definitive contracts.
-
Strengthen the value chain to ensure better returns for farmers through direct sourcing from the Sagam FPC.
Speaking about the collaboration, Sarveshwar Foods highlighted that this partnership underscores its commitment to empowering farmers and promoting premium, locally grown produce. The company aims to bring the unique aroma and superior quality of Mushkbudji rice from Kashmir to a wider audience, supporting both agricultural sustainability and rural livelihoods.
