The Indian equity market reversed course after a strong opening on Tuesday, with the Nifty slipping below 24,600 and shedding nearly 200 points from the day’s high. The Nifty 50 ended lower by 45.45 points, or 0.18%, at 24,579.60, while the Sensex fell 206.61 points, or 0.26%, to close at 80,157.88. Top Gainers
Tata Consumer Products led the pack, closing at ₹1,105.5, up 2.8%. Nestle India followed with a 2.2% rise to ₹1,200.5. Power Grid Corporation gained 2.2% to ₹286. NTPC advanced 1.8% to ₹336.7, while Tata Steel rose 1.5% to ₹158.5.
Hero MotoCorp closed 1.5% higher at ₹5,320. Hindustan Unilever added 1.2% to end at ₹2,680, and Eicher Motors gained 1.1% to ₹6,350. Reliance Industries edged up 1% to ₹1,367.5, while Bharat Electronics finished 0.9% higher at ₹377.3.
Top Losers
On the downside, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories slipped 2.3% to ₹1,250. Mahindra & Mahindra also fell 2.3%, closing at ₹3,238. ICICI Bank dropped 1.4% to ₹1,391, while Asian Paints lost 1.3% to ₹2,538. Cipla declined 1.2% to ₹1,568.
Kotak Mahindra Bank fell 1.2% to ₹1,944.9, and Trent eased 0.9% to ₹5,400. Tata Motors closed 0.9% lower at ₹684.3, while Grasim Industries slipped 0.9% to ₹2,780.2. UltraTech Cement ended 0.8% down at ₹12,726.
