Indian equity markets ended in the red on August 8. The Nifty 50 slipped 232.85 points or 0.95% to close at 24,363.30, while the Sensex dropped 765.47 points or 0.95%, ending the session at 79,857.79.
Despite the market downturn, a few stocks managed to stay in the green. As per Trendline, NTPC was the top gainer on Nifty, rising 1.6% to ₹335. It was followed by Titan, which climbed 1.3% to ₹3,460.20. Other gainers included Dr. Reddy’s Labs (up 0.9%), HDFC Life (up 0.8%), and Bajaj Finserv (up 0.3%). Stocks like Trent, ITC, and HCL Tech also managed to hold mild gains.
On the flip side, Bharti Airtel led the losers’ pack, plunging 3.3% to ₹1,858.60 amid heavy volumes. Adani Enterprises dropped 3.2% to ₹2,178.10, followed by IndusInd Bank (-3.1%), Shriram Finance (-2.8%), and M&M (-2.2%). Other notable losers included Tata Motors, Grasim, Hindalco, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Nestle India, all shedding between 1.8% and 2.0%.
