GHCL Limited has received approval from the Industries and Mines Department of the Gujarat government to renew the mining lease for its Khadsaliya Lignite Mines. The renewed lease covers 171 hectares in Bhavnagar district and will remain valid for 20 years, up to December 8, 2043.
In the exchagne filings, GHCL shared, “We would like to inform that on July 19, 2025, the company has received an email from Industries and Mines Department, Government of Gujarat, approving the lease renewal of our Khadsaliya Lignite Mines of 171 Hectares, for a period of twenty years i.e up to December 08, 2043.”
This development comes after GHCL signed a ₹950 crore MoU with the state government in December 2023, aimed at exploring and selling secondary minerals like Bentonite and Sand. With this lease extension, GHCL plans to transform the Khadsaliya site into a composite mining operation, combining Lignite extraction with secondary mineral development.
The move aligns with the company’s sustainability goals and focus on circular economy practices. GHCL believes this expansion will bring long-term value while supporting regional development and resource optimization.
