On Sunday, eight MPs were suspended for their unruly behaviour against the Deputy Chairman during the voting on farm Bills. Today, Rajya Sabha was adjourned for a brief period after Zero Hour as opposition members protested the suspension.
Twelve Opposition parties had given notice for a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh for ignoring and overruling their pleas for an adjournment of the proceedings. This motion was rejected by Chairman Venkaiah Naidu.
Leader of Opposition will be asked to speak first before any Bills are discussed, but those who have been named by the Chairman can’t participate, said Deputy Chairman Harivansh. Opposition members have objected to this.
The Rajya Sabha adjourned for 30 mins.
The suspended MPs include Trinamool Congress’s Derek O’Brien, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Sanjay Singh, Congress’s Rajeev Satav and CPM’s KK Ragesh.
