Skoda Auto India has made a bold move with the launch of the Kylaq, its entry into the highly competitive sub-compact SUV segment. Priced aggressively at ₹7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kylaq is designed to challenge popular models like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet. Bookings for the Kylaq will commence on November 2, 2024, with the full price list revealed simultaneously.

The Kylaq introduces Skoda’s Modern-Solid design language, boasting split headlamps, a bold butterfly grille, and a boxy profile. Standard features include LED headlamps and DRLs, with top trims offering 17-inch alloy wheels. The SUV will be available in four variants: Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige, each offering distinct interior themes and materials, ranging from fabric to leatherette upholstery.

Under the hood, the Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine delivering 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission for higher trims. The Classic variant, however, is limited to a manual gearbox.

Tech-savvy buyers will like the 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, available in higher variants. Entry-level trims feature a 5-inch touchscreen and semi-digital instrument cluster. Premium features like a sunroof, ventilated seats, and six-way electric adjustments are available for the Prestige trim.

Safety remains a priority, with over 25 features, including six airbags, electronic stability control, multi-collision brake and more. Skoda’s rigorous testing across 8,00,000 km ensures the Kylaq is ready for India’s challenging terrains.
