Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has announced a recall of 52 units of its popular models, including the Skoda Slavia, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Virtus and Volkswagen Taigun. The recall affects 38 units of the Virtus and Taigun, as well as 14 units of the Slavia and Kushaq. The reason for the recall is a potential defect in the track control arm, a critical suspension component that could compromise vehicle stability and safety.

Key Details About the Recall

The recall involves vehicles manufactured between November 29, 2023, and January 20, 2024. According to information filed with SIAM, the company claims that a “production process irregularity at the component supplier’s end” in the “track control arm” might affect the safety of the vehicle and its occupants. A track control arm plays a crucial role in the suspension system of a vehicle. It connects the wheel to the chassis, ensuring the correct alignment and movement of the wheels while driving.

A “track control arm” is, by definition, a crucial component of a car’s suspension system that joins the wheel and suspension assembly to the chassis. The component is intended to help prevent untoward movement of the wheels while maintaining ideal contact between the wheel and the road for stability.
