National Law School Of India University (NLSIU) had earlier announced that they will no longer accept CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) for their BA LLB and LLM courses. They announced their entrance test: National Law Aptitude Test (NLAT).

A former Vice-Chancellor of the University R Venkata Rao and a student’s parents filed a petition in the supreme court against the NLAT. In their petition, they said that the decision had been made without any consideration for the students making it a prejudicial decision that will jeopardize their careers.
The petition also said that this move would make NLSIU an elitist institution and they were “completely ignoring the aspirations of poor, marginalized, and less privileged candidates.”
