Rihanna, the pop sensation, skipped this year’s Met Gala due to illness. Fans excitedly awaited her arrival on the red carpet, but the singer reportedly acquired the flu and did not attend one of the greatest fashion events.
On Tuesday morning, social media was awash with photos and videos of celebrities strutting down the Met Gala’s red carpet in distinctive ensembles. Amidst the glitter, a photo of Rihanna at the event leaked, confusing the internet.
While some praised her dress, which was appropriate for the event’s theme, others pointed out that the photographs were created using AI. The images are fake!
Rihanna appears in the deepfake photos sporting an off-white and green flowery dress. Her spectacular gown had an intricately designed accent shoulder that arched over her head. The singer was all smiles in the fake photos.

Besides Rihanna, Katy Perry also fell victim to deepfake. Soon after her false photographs surfaced, she moved to her official Instagram account to emphasise that she had not attended the event. “Couldn’t make it to the Met, had to work,” she wrote in the image, which included two bogus Met Gala red carpet photos.
In fact, she confessed that her mother was duped into believing the singer had attended the event based on AI-generated images. Katy also posted a screenshot of her mother’s conversation with her, in which she praised her look.
Her mother’s message read, “What a gorgeous gown, you look like the Rose Parade, you are your own float.” To this Katy replied, “Lol mom the AI got you, too, BEWARE.”
The gala event’s theme this year was ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’, and the dress code was ‘Garden of Time’. The event was place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Celebrities from all around the world graced the red carpet, turning heads with their expensive outfits and distinct styles.
