Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has responded to the Maharashtra Cyber Cell summons in connection with the illegal IPL match streaming case. Although the actress has yet to speak to the press, she has asked the Cyber Cell for a later date to appear.
Tamannaah was summoned for interrogation as a witness on April 29. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell had already summoned Sanjay Dutt to appear last week, but he requested a later date due to his shooting schedule.
“Tamannaah Bhatia has informed the cyber team that she is not in Mumbai, and could appear again at a later date,” a source said. Cyber Cell is yet to announce the new date.
Tamannaah’s name made headlines last week in connection with the illicit streaming of IPL matches. “Maharashtra Cyber summons actor Tamannaah Bhatia for questioning in connection with the illegal streaming of IPL 2023 on the Fairplay App, resulting in a loss of crores of rupees for Viacom.” “She has been summoned to appear before Maharashtra Cyber on April 29th,” ANI reported on X last week. Tamannaah allegedly promoted and acknowledged FairPlay, the Mahadev betting app’s subsidiary app.
According to reports, more than 20 influencers who have endorsed the FairPlay app on various platforms will be summoned soon to record their remarks.
According to sources, FIR was filed when Viacom18 complained to Fair Play, a betting app platform, for broadcasting IPL matches despite the former possessing the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for the games. Viacom18 suffered a loss of more than Rs 100 crore due to illicit streaming. The FIR was registered in September 2023.

Following the FIR, numerous celebrities, including Badshah, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Tamannaah, were taken in for interrogation. In December 2023, an employee of the betting app was detained.
