With filming due to get on floors in April, Thandiwe Newton has joined the cast of Wednesday for the upcoming season 2, as per the reports of Variety.

Thandiwe became the second high profile cast announcement after Steve Buscemi, who was earlier announced to have joined the cast in an unnamed role.

The actress is best known for Maeve Millay in HBO’s sci-fi drama Westworld. She has starred in high profile movies such as Crash, The Pursuit of Happyness, Chronicles of Riddick, Mission Impossible: 2, Interview with a Vampire, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. She has also been a voice actor in Big Mouth and Human Resources, as she had lend her voice for Mona, the Hormone Monstress.

Details over her role in Wednesday is not yet revealed by the makers.

While there is no official details unveiled, we are aware of two roles that needs to be filled: the new principal of Nevermore Academy and the Theater Music Teacher. It is most likely for Thandiwe to acquire either of these two roles.

Wednesday premiered on Netflix in November 2022, with Jenna Ortega in the lead. The series also star Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Chistina Ricci, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, and Emma Myers.
