Keke Palmer and SZA are heading to the big screen!

The duo are set to share the screen as co- stars in a buddy comedy produced by Issa Rae at TriStar Pictures. While the movie still remains untitled, it has been reported by multiple outlets that the film will be directed by Lawrence Lamont, and Syreeta Singleton will be writing the screenplay.

Both Lawrence and Syreeta previously collaborated with Issa on her Max comedy series Rap Sh!t, which starred Aida Osman and KaMillion as two women trying to make it in the music industry as rappers. Lawrence directed several episodes, while Syreeta served as the showrunner on the series.

Keke will not only be starring in the movie, but will also be taking up the role of executive producer through her company Big Boss, while SZA, whose real name is Solana Imani Rowe, will make her acting debut in the film. The plot details of the film are currently being kept under wraps.

Keke took to her Instagram account to share the excitement and confirming the casting news. “I CANT WAIT!!” captioned the star. She had earlier collaborated with SZA for Saturday Night Live skit in 2022, wherein the latter had appeared a episode’s musical guest.
