Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss expressed his enthusiasm over bring the detective series back and has opened up about the potential for a Sherlock project, which as per him could be a Sherlock reunion film.
Mark co-created the series with Steven Moffat and has previously voiced his ambition to adapt Sherlock into a movie, but emphasized that the right people need to be on board for it to happen. During his interview with Deadline, Palmer shared that the biggest challenge they might face is to get the star cast including Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman together to film due to their busy schedule.
“We’d love to make a film, but gathering everyone together is quite challenging… You’d have to ask Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman,” stated Mark.
Earlier, in July 2023, Mark had shared similar intentions of turning the show into a film when he mentioned it to Guardian that it would be “natural thing” to do post the series concluded.
Mark also has been credited as co-creator for several other hit projects such as BBC’s The League of Gentleman and Netflix/BBC’s Dracula. He was announced to be the writer and starrer in Bookish, which a new British TV drama for YKTV crime network Alibi, with plot set in post-war London in 1946.
