The actor Kajol explained her refusal to participate in “scenes that require (her) to be molested.” Kajol acknowledged that she has been in films where she has had to perform such moments during her speech at the Netflix Film Actors’ Roundtable in 2023. Such sights, she continued, are “very, very uncomfortable and very disturbing.”
“It has always been my take as an actor that I’ll not do scenes that require me to be either molested or in any which way show me in a place where I don’t want to be because I think as actors when we do a shot, we’re feeling it, we’re feeling it. So yes, we are actors up to a point but the camera I feel is one of those things it’s like man-made magic and it tends to capture it if you’re not being honest in front of it. At times like this, you need to be honest”, says Kajol. When she has to play out a scenario in which she is being physically mistreated or molested, she claims that it makes her uncomfortable.
In a few of her film roles, Kajol was required to film scenes involving molestation. The films include Ishq (1997), Dushman (1998), and Baazigar (1993). Kajol portrayed a woman who suffered abuse at the hands of her partner in Lust Stories 2 (2023). Her character was shown to have facial bruises, even though the abuse sequences were not shown.
Kajol last appeared in Suparn Varma’s television series The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha. Additionally, the actor starred in Lust Stories 2. She will appear in Do Patti alongside Kriti Sanon. Do Patti, which has Shashanka Chaturvedi at the helm and is produced by Kathha Pictures, Kriti Sanon, and Kanika Dhillon in addition, is co-written. It will only be available for streaming on Netflix.
The film promises to transport viewers to the hills of North India, providing a backdrop for the mystery and intrigue that will unravel. It promises to be an exciting and thrilling adventure. On August 18, filmmakers in Mumbai started work on the movie.
