Disney+ Hotstar achieved a groundbreaking milestone on November 19, setting a new global live streaming viewership record during the final match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 between India and Australia.

The streaming giant hit an impressive 59 million concurrent viewers, surpassing its own previous record of 53 million concurrent viewers during the India versus New Zealand semi-final on November 15.

As the reigning market leader in India’s thriving streaming landscape, Disney+ Hotstar has consistently shattered records over the past month.

The platform’s success can be attributed to its strategic move of offering free ad-supported streaming for major cricket events, including the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the recently concluded Asia Cup, exclusively to mobile users in India. This approach follows the trend set by competitors like JioCinema, which streamed the IPL tournament for free earlier this year.
