Congress on Sunday released the second list of 43 candidates for the Rajasthan assembly elections. The names of leaders like Govind Ram Meghwal, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas are included in this list. Congress has fielded Govind Ram Meghwal from Khajuwala, while Pratap Singh Khachariyawas will contest from Civil Lines and Parsadi Lal Meena from Lolsot.
The second list of Congress includes the names of former Chief Secretary Niranjan Arya and Pramod Jain Bhaya, considered close to Ashok Gehlot. Niranjan Arya’s wife Sanjita Arya had also contested elections from Sojat in 2013. However, she lost the election.
Reacting to the second list of candidates, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said: “Hearty congratulations to all the candidates nominated by the Central Election Committee of Congress for Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2023. It is necessary to work tirelessly and get the blessings of the people to speed up the 4 times progress achieved through the savings, relief and growth schemes during the current tenure of the Congress to 10 times. All junior, senior and equivalent members of the Congress family are requested to ensure the victory of Congress in their respective areas to give concrete shape to the concept of No. 1 Rajasthan.”

Congress has so far released two lists of candidates for the 200-member Rajasthan assembly. Congress announced the names of 33 candidates in the first list, while 43 in the second list. In such a situation, the party has fielded candidates on 76 out of 200 seats.
Govind Ram Meghwal, Dr BD Kalla, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, Vishvendra Singh, Prasadi Lal Meena, Uday Lal, Pramod Jain Bhaya, Shakuntala Rawat, Ramlal Jat, Sukhram Vishnoi Brijendra Ola, Rajendra Yadav, Vishvend Singh, Murari Lal Meena, Bhajan Lal Jatav have got the ticket.
A day earlier, on Saturday, Congress had released the first list of 33 candidates. In this list, tickets of all the senior leaders of the state including Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, State President Govind Singh Dotasara, former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and assembly speaker CP Joshi have been announced. By not deleting the name of any MLA from the first list, only old faces were repeated.
