On Wednesday, Congress party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) held a meeting in New Delhi. In this meeting, the remaining candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh were discussed. It is believed that the names of the candidates for the remaining seats in these states will be finalised today itself.
The meeting held at the Congress party’s Headquarters in New Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former party president Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and other members of the CEC and other senior leaders of the party took part in the meeting.

Till now, the party has approved the names of 144 candidates in Madhya Pradesh and 30 in Chhattisgarh. At the same time, candidates have been announced for 39 out of 40 seats in Mizoram. In Telangana also, the list of names of 55 candidates has been released. However, the party has not yet released any list for Rajasthan.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has already announced the schedule for the legislative assembly elections in all the five states including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana. Polling in Chhattisgarh will be finished in two phases, i.e., on November 7, 2023 and November 17, 2023, while all other states will observe polling on all seats in a single day. Counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on December 3 for all five states.
