Indian cricket team found themselves in a weird situation early in their match against Afghanistan. The spotlight was on the team’s former captain, Virat Kohli, who convinced current skipper Rohit Sharma to take their first review of the game. The review proved to be a wrong as as it involved a close call when Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran faced a delivery from Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj.
Mohammed Siraj bowled a fiery delivery that in his second over where he appeared to have struck Zadran’s pads, and the Indian team immediately went up in to appeal for an lbw (leg before wicket) dismissal. However, as the on-field umpire stood firm in his decision, it was Virat Kohli who go to Rohit Sharma to convince him for the review. Virat reportedly said, ” Do aawaz aayi hai, dono pads pe laga hai.” The replays were examined and the decision was on a critical factor – whether the ball was seen going a bit wide off the stumps and Zadran survived.
