As seen in the previous warm-up games at Thiruvananthapuram, India faced similar circumstances where the match was called off because of the heavy rain. The city was already put on orange alert by the IMD (Indian Meteorological Department), leaving the chances of heavy rainfall during the match very high. The match was abandoned without even a ball being bowled.

Both India and the Netherlands didn’t show up at the ground looking at the harsh weather conditions. However, a lot of fans wearing blue were disappointed to not see any action in play. Everyone had a hope of having at least some overs, but unfortunately the time went to smoke with referees declaring the ground not fit to be played on.

While the Netherlands will travel to Hyderabad to play their opening game against Pakistan, India will lock horns against Australia in Chennai on October 8.
