The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is encountering hurdles in its quest for a new title sponsor as the existing agreement with Mastercard is set to conclude in September.

The upcoming deal is slated to commence during the IND vs AUS series. However, the BCCI’s efforts have been met with limited interest from potential sponsors, prompting a reduction in the base price to Rs 2.4 crore.

This comes after a previous reduction from Rs 3 crore. Unlike media rights, the title sponsorship covers only three seasons and entails 56 matches, with a focus on T20Is.

The BCCI’s challenge lies in offering more than just branding to entice sponsors, considering the IPL’s greater allure and engagement opportunities. The finalization of the process is expected by September 15, ahead of the IND vs AUS series.
