Earlier this week, Sanjay Dutt’s lung cancer diagnosis rumors went afloat until he confirmed that he would be taking a short break from his professional commitments to seek medical treatment.
Dutt had been one of the busiest B-town actors for the last two years.With releases like Bhoomi, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, Kalank, Prassthanam and Panipat. His two films are releasing on OTT soon. Films like Bhuj: The pride of India, Prithviraj, Shamshera and KGF Chapter 2 are in the works.
Bhuj: The pride of India
The true-life period drama, set against the backdrop of 1971 Indo-Pak war, Bhuj features Sanjay Dutt as Ranchordas Savabhai Rabari aka Pagi, who helps Sonakshi Sinha’s Sunderben lead team of 300 Gujarati village women rebuild the Bhuj airstrip overnight after it’s destroyed by the enemy. This act of grit and courage helped the Indian Air Force counter the enemy attack. Ajay Devgn plays Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who was in charge of getting the airstrip operational during the war. The film is almost complete, with just 10 days of patchwork shoot and dubbing is remaining. Sanjay Dutt is yet to complete the dubbing for the film.
KGF 2
The producer of KGF 2 said, “Though we’re 20 days away from completion, we have only two to three days of shoot left with him (Sanjay Dutt). It’s nothing a very important scene and manageable for us. But the dubbing still remains and we will do it soon. I spoke to him the other day and he is keeping well, there is nothing to worry”.
Shamshera
Reel life Sanju gets teamed up with real-life Sanju in this period drama that features Ranbir as a dacoit that takes on the British Raj with Dutt in a negative role as Shudh Singh. The Karan Malhotra directorial wrapped up with only a week-long patchwork shoot remaining. Sanjay has completed the shooting of this period drama, with only the dubbing part left.
Prithviraj
The period drama has Akshay Kumar in the lead role, with Sanjay too, playing a pivotal role. Some reports suggest that he plays the character of Prithviraj’s uncle while some suggest that he plays the role of Jaichand, father of his love interest Sanyukta.The film had been shot for 10-14 days after which the shoot had been halted due to ongoing pandemic. The shoot is expected to resume by November in Mumbai. The film also marks the debut of the Miss World Manushi Chhillar.
Projects yet to go on floors:
According to Mumbai Mirror, Sanjay Dutt had revealed about a Sanjay Puran directorial, titled Pandit Galli ka Ali. He was to team up with Rishi Kapoor who passed away on 30th April 2020. There is also a horror-comedy, Virdin Tree, under the direction of an ad filmmaker Siddhant. The actor was also supposed to reunite with his Circuit, Arshad Warsi, but with not Munna Bhai 3 but a comedy revolving around a blind Don. He is also said to be doing a film named Doghouse with Samir Karnik. It’s a comedy flick set in Punjab.
