In the recent judgment given by the Bombay high court People reacted violently and unhappily. This judge was found guilty by a judgment and order dated 21/02/2019 after being tried by the Special Judge at Gr. Bombay in POCSO Spl. Case No.203 of 2016 for the offenses punishable under Sections 363, 376, 107, and 109 of the Indian Penal Code and under Sections 4, 6, and 17 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012. After being found guilty under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, he was given a sentence of ten years in prison and ordered to pay a fee of Rs. 2,000 in default of serving a month in prison. Despite being found guilty, he receives no additional punishment in accordance with Sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act.
This verdict was uploaded on the Livlaw’s Instagram feed. Netizens commented on this article and expressed their discontent with it. Moreover, they seem extremely displeased as a majority to the quoted judgement posted on social media.
