Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in French capital Paris on a two day visit during which he will be holding talks with French president Emmanuel Macron over various issues and will attend French National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour.

PM Modi was welcomed by French PM Elisabeth Borne upon landing in Paris and received a ceremonial welcome.

“Landed in Paris. Looking forward to boosting India-France cooperation during this visit. My various programmes today include interaction with the Indian community later in the evening,” PM Modi said in his tweet after he landed in Paris.

PM also interacted with people from the Indian diaspora who had gathered outside the hotel to welcome the Indian Prime Minister. Modi is scheduled to address the Indian community at the iconic La Seine Musicale at around 11 pm today.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in his statement said that PM Midi’s program in Paris includes participation in the Bastille Day celebrations and talks with French leadership, Indian diaspora, CEO’s and other prominent personalities.

As a part of the Bastille Day celebrations, a 269 member tri-service contingent will participate in the parade. Three Rafale fighter jets will be joining French fighter jets during the fly past ceremony. Modi also noted that this year marks 25th anniversary of India-France strategic partnership.

PM also said that rooted in deep trust and commitment, the two countries cooperate closely across various domains, including defence, space, civil nuclear, blue economy, trade, investment, education, culture and people-to-people ties.
