Earlier, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) request to change venues for certain matches in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. The tournament, scheduled to be held in India from October 5 to November 19, will proceed with the original schedule proposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The PCB had sought to swap venues for Pakistan’s matches against Australia and Afghanistan, but the ICC decided to maintain the existing schedule. Former Pakistani wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal criticized the PCB’s excuses, emphasizing that teams should not make venue-related requests and should focus on cricket instead.

Akmal highlighted India’s success in defeating strong teams on their home grounds and urged the PCB to refrain from making such requests that lower the standard of the game.

He called for a focus on maintaining a high standard and striving for excellence in international cricket, understanding the expectations of fans and the cricket board.
