Michael Vaughan, the former captain of the England cricket team, has raised concerns about the readiness of England’s bowling attack ahead of the first Ashes Test. Vaughan highlighted the limited bowling practice of key bowlers including James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, Mark Wood, Ben Stokes, and the recent return of off-spinner Moeen Ali from retirement.
In an interview with Fox Cricket, Vaughan stressed the significance of bowlers accumulating sufficient overs before a Test match. He noted that Anderson, Robinson, Stokes, Wood, and Ali have had minimal opportunities for bowling in recent weeks, months, or even years in Ali’s case. While Vaughan acknowledged their skills, he underscored the physical toll that Test cricket takes on bowlers’ bodies.
