Rajasthan state Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, has called for a meeting with his council of ministers to rework on the proposal sent to the state Governor Kalraj Mishra. The proposal calls for a session of the assembly to conduct a floor test.

The Chief Minister, along with his council of ministers, would be deliberating over the objections raised by Governor Mishra, over a proposal sent earlier to him. In the second meeting being held in less than 12 hours from the first one, Gehlot and his council would be reworking on the proposal, adding the suggestions made by the Governor to persuade him to agree on holding a session.

Yesterday, while Gehlot was in a meeting with the Governor, the council of ministers, held a procession outside the Raj Bhawan. The ministers held a five-hour sit-in, right outside the Raj Bhawan, to impose pressure on the Governor to give his assent for the assembly session.

This supposed protest happened right after the Rajasthan High Court pronounced its verdict, barring disqualification of the Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and 18 other MLAs. Pilot and his allied were disqualified by the party speaker CP Joshi for not attending two sessions of the Congress Legislative Party meeting held at Jaipur, earlier this month. Later, they were also accused for conspiring against the current state government.

After the supposed indomitable pressure imposed on the Governor, he responded by saying that he will always abide by the constitution. Hence, he stated that he’d need a response from the the state government on a few points. He stated that a response from Gehlot’s side would be needed considering that his request lacked a “justification” or “agenda” for the meeting to be conducted on such short notice.

As per the norms already in place, a prior approval of 21 days is needed for such a meeting to be held.

Chief Minister Gehlot, after being triggered by the rebellious front presented by Pilot and his ally MLAs, has been investing a huge amount of effort in proving his strength and conducted a floor test. According to him, such floor test would prove his government’s majority. Thereby, he’d remain undefeated with his throne.
