The team for  West Indies’ participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will take place in Australia, has been announced. Some challenging players are rejected from the squad, while others make a persistent comeback.

Evin Lewis and Johnson Charles have been added back to the West Indies team for the next T20 World Cup in Australia. Yannic Cariah, an uncapped all-around legspin bowler who last competed in a T20 in 2016, has also been added as a surprise. The seasoned team of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine was passed over by the selectors. Lewis last competed in an international cricket match at the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year, and he has since been unable to make West Indies squads due to physical limitations.

Hours after the squad was announced, Narine won player of the match on Wednesday night for his all-around effort of 26/20 and 2/9 from two overs against Guyana Amazonas-Warrior. Narine has been a constant performer in the CPL. In this CPL, he has batted in the middle order for the Knight Riders and so far taken six wickets in 20 overs with a 4.25 economical save rate. He had a remarkable economy rate of 4.37 while taking 12 wickets last season.

“I have not received any notification from Narine regarding his availability to play. There have been conversations that the captain [Nicholas Pooran] had with Narine and by all accounts he didn’t seem interested,” Haynes said when asked about Narine.
