Men in blue has started its preparations for the five-match T20I series against South Africa, which begins on June 9 in Delhi. The Indian players competed in the just concluded IPL 2022 in Ahmedabad, which finished on May 29. The Indian squad put in a fruitful first official practise session ahead of the first Twenty20 International match against South Africa on Monday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

In the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, who has been rested, KL Rahul will lead India in the T20Is against the Proteas. For the five-game series, experienced players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Shami have also been rested.

Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh of the IPL 2022 have been called up to the Indian team. Dinesh Karthik, the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman, and Hardik Pandya, the all-rounder, have also made a comeback following their outstanding performances in the T20 league.

The squad proceeded to the neighbouring west stand nets for net workouts after some conditioning drills. Everyone took part in the practise session except Hardik Pandya, Harshal Patel, and Yuzvendra Chahal. The first batsmen to take on the bowlers were captain K L Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Hardik will be making his Team India comeback following a successful time in the IPL 2022, where he led Gujarat Titans to the championship in their first season.

In 2022, Team India is still unbeaten in T20Is as they attempt to break the record for most straight wins. India will win their 13th match if they win on Thursday, which will be a significant achievement for the team. The build-up will be closely monitored by head coach Rahul Dravid, since just a few players will be competing for a spot in the forthcoming England tour as well as the T20 World Cup.
