Veteran Bollywood actor Jagdeep passed away last evening in Mumbai. The actor was known for his roles in several iconic films like Gora Aur Kala, Agent Vinod, Qurbani, Sholay, Shahenshah, Andaz Apna Apna and China Gate. The 81-year-old actor’s funeral was held in Mumbai at 11:30 keeping in mind the rules of social distancing. His last rites were performed by sons Jaaved Jaaferi and Naved Jafri and his grandson Meezaan.
Johnny Lever also attended the last rites. Remembering the late actor, Johnny had earlier shared on Twitter, “My first film & the first time I ever faced the camera, was in the film #yehrishtanatoote with the legend himself #Jagdeep bhai. We will miss you…May his soul rest in peace. Our prayers & deepest condolences to the family.”

Jagdeep was going through age-related illnesses and took his last breath around 8:30 PM on July 8. The family hasn’t issued any official statement yet.
Earlier many Bollywood actors took to social media to share their grief. Shilpa Shetty also shared the screen with Jagdeep in Rishtey wrote, “Extremely saddened by the news of Jagdeep ji’s demise.I had the good fortune to share screen space with him in Rishtey, such wonderful comic timing, in his inimitable style and an even more wonderful human being Heartfelt condolences to @meezaanj, @jaavedjaaferi @navedjafri_boo & the entire family🏻 Sending love, prayers, & strength to cope with this difficult loss #RIPJagdeepJi”
Jagdeep started working as a child artist in Bollywood movies like ‘Do Bigha Zamin’, ‘Munna’ and ‘Aar Paar’. He went on to act as the lead in ‘Bhabhi’, ‘Bindaya’ and ‘Barkha’. Jagdeep established himself as a comedian with ‘Brahmachari’ in 1968.
